PSHE is the underpinning of HA. Our ethos lends itself to many conversations and circle times about feelings and how to react to situations. Each week, each class has a class assembly or circle time that works on any issues or worries that have arisen during the week. Each year group follows a PSHE scheme of work which is a combination of SEAL, PSHE and Citizenship curriculums and ensures coverage over the year and progression throughout the school.
Our school values are incredibly important and each half term focuses on one of them. Teachers refer to these during the half term and the children become very aware of what they mean and how to show them.
We have a weekly reflection question that is set at the start of the week. The children then think about this throughout the week and have the opportunity to write and draw their ideas on a Friday. After Half Term in October, we will be starting cross-school family groups. Here, children will have the opportunity to mix with children from other year groups to do various activities, including their weekly reflection.
Overarching all of this is our Golden Rue to "Take Care". This is reflected in everything we say and do. This links to class charters which children have developed and explain the rights that we have and the responsibilities linked to them. Children at HA understand that we can Take Care in many ways, starting particularly with themselves and their friends.
