In Year Admissions

Harpenden Academy manage their own In Year Admissions.

If you would like your child to be added to the year group waiting list then please complete the attached in year application form and email it to office@harpendenacademy.co.uk.  If you would like to discuss how our spaces are allocated from the admissions waiting list then please give the school office a call between 09.30-14.00, Monday - Wednesday.

Pupil numbers per class are determined by the Trust Board as the Admitting Authority.

International parents, planning to move to Harpenden during the year are welcome to arrange a Face Time or Skype interview with the Headteacher via our Office Manager.

School appeals

For transfer appeals, Hertfordshire parents can access the online system via their admissions account.  Parents who live out-of-county or who applied on paper should now use our appeals online system and will need to contact our Customer Service Centre on 0300 123 4043 in order to obtain their registration details to gain access.

For In Year appeals, parents will also use our appeals online system.

September 2024 entry

Appeals resulting from under 11’s applications for admission in September 2024 will be heard according to the following timetable:

Under 11's (Primary Reception Junior / Middle) 16 April 2024 4pm on 22 May 2024 13 June - 19 July 2024


Appeals lodged after these dates will be heard within 40 school days of the appeal deadline or 30 school days of being lodged, which ever is the later date.

Appellants will be sent notification of their appeal hearing at least 10 clear school days in advance of the hearing.

Appellants will be sent a copy of the school's case 7 working days in advance of the hearing.

Additional supporting information

If an appellant wishes to submit further evidence, which was not included with their initial appeal, they should ensure this is received at least 7 clear working days, not counting the day of postage or the hearing, in advance of your appeal.

Please remember that any confidential medical/social evidence submitted to the Admission Authority (AA) in support of your application will not be provided to an appeal panel.  If you wish to rely on this in support of your appeal you will need to submit this documentation to the appeals team.

Only a short document, such as a doctor’s letter not previously available, will be accepted up to 4 clear working days prior to the hearing.  Any additional evidence or information received after this deadline will not be circulated and may not be considered at the hearing.
